About
Silver Design Review is for curious readers who want to understand the choices built into designed things. We look at objects, graphics, interfaces, materials and spaces through the details a reader can notice and describe.
What we cover
Our subjects range from the way a handle signals how to use a tool to the way type hierarchy helps a reader scan a page. We consider materials, visual form, practical use and the context that gives a design its job. The aim is not to declare every choice good or bad, but to make the choices easier to see.
Who it is for
You do not need a design background to read Silver Design Review. We write for people who use products, read signs, move through rooms and wonder why one arrangement feels clearer than another. Terms are explained when they help; jargon is left on the bench when it does not.
How we look
We start with something observable: a shape, a label, a route through a page or a material surface. From there, we explain what that feature may enable or frustrate, while separating a visible detail from an assumption about the designer's intent. Each piece should leave readers with a sharper way to look.
Good design rewards a second look
We look for the decision behind the appearance. A close reading can reveal what works, what gets in the way and why a small detail matters.
